Super Spike
Installation Instructions
(with this efficient method no digging or pouring of cement is required) |
|
1. |
Insert one 1/4" x 1
1/2" bolt in each hole on the top of the super spike as per
sketch. Tighten one regular nut down to the plate to hold the bolt
in place.
|
|
2. |
Stand the super spike on the
ground in the place where you want to install it. Note: Post orientation is 45
degrees to square top plate on super spike.
|
|
3. |
Make sure the loose flat plate on the
inside of the square top of the super spike is laying flat in the bottom. Shake
super spike to locate it properly if needed.
|
|
|
4. |
Insert the 12" x 1" round stock
provided in the hole in the top of the super spike so that it rests on the top
of the flat plate. This transfers the shock load to the super spike. Use round
stock as a place to sledgehammer while driving the super spike into the ground.
Once the top plate is level with the ground remove the round stock.
|
|
5. |
Run the wire up beside the super
spike plate and into the post. Make the necessary connections to the light.
|
|
6. |
Place another regular nut on the bolts that you
previously tightened to the plate.
|
|
7. |
Place a flat washer on top of the nut. Now stand the
post on top of the bolts lining up the holes provided. The
post should not rocker on the nuts. If it does then raise or lower the nuts as
required.
|
|
8. |
Place another flat washer on top of the bolt
sticking out of the base of the post and then install the Nylock Lock nuts
provided. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Your will damage the fiberglass if you
do.
|
|
* An alternative way to install the super spike is to dig a hole, insert a sauna
tube (cardboard construction tube) into the hole, fill the hole full of cement
and insert the super spike into the wet cement.
The procedure is completed now enjoy your lamp
post!
